Today I made a very nice set of dovetail sliding joints going in to a very high end stainless steel table in a reading room to be installed at the Juilliard School. These tracks will allow trap doors in the center of the table open and then drop down in to little slots, concealing them perfectly. The track material is machined 360 brass, and the sliding components are made of a very expensive material known as Teflon filled Delrin. It’s slick and strong. The mounting holes are fitted with HeliCoils to allow screws to get a very secure bite in the plastic without fear of them tearing out.
